The simple past and the past participle are usually the same if the simple past ends in -ed. If the simple past does NOT end in -ed, the past participle is different from the simple past. The only exception is show - showed - shown (but note that it can also be show - showed - showed.

Forms marked UK are used in the United Kingdom but rarely found or considered incorrect in the US. Forms marked US are used in the United States but are rare or considered incorrect in Britain. Forms with neither label may be considered standard in both main varieties of English.

Canadian English irregular verbs are the same as American or British verbs.

"Shone" is pronounced "shōn" (like "tone") in US English, but in British English it is pronounced "shän" (like "gone"). Some Canadians pronounce it like Americans and others like Brits.
